Best washing machine cleaners compared in 2026

Washing machine cleaners come in different formats, so it helps to know what each one is designed to do. This roundup compares five options: Dr. Beckmann Service-it Deep Clean, a 250g powder; Calgon 4-in-1, a pack of 75 tablets that also soften water; ACTIVE, a pack of 24 cleaner and descaler tablets; Vamoosh 6-in-1, a single pack of lemon-scented cleaner and descaler; and Ecozone, a pack of 6 tablets for washing machines and dishwashers. The features described are the manufacturers' stated claims rather than independent test results. Formats and pack sizes differ, so the products are not interchangeable. Check the usage instructions and your machine's manual before choosing.
