Best double bed bedding compared in 2026

A double bed is made up of separate parts, and this comparison covers three of them: fitted sheets, duvets and an electric blanket. They do different jobs, so they are not rivals. A sheet covers the mattress, a duvet is the warmth layer on top, and the electric blanket is a separate bed-warming item. Within each group there are real differences to weigh up, such as pocket depth on the sheets and tog rating on the duvets, so read the cards for the part you actually need.

Slumberdown Warm Winter Nights Double Duvet 13.5 Tog - Thick & Cosy Quilt for Cold Weather

Our Top Pick

Best for winter warmth

Slumberdown Warm Winter Nights is a double duvet rated at 13.5 tog, the higher of the two duvets here. That makes it the pick if your priority is a warm winter bed. It is a duvet only, so it does not replace a fitted sheet or an electric blanket.

Best for winter warmth

Slumberdown Warm Winter Nights Double Duvet 13.5 Tog - Thick & Cosy Quilt for Cold Weather

A double duvet rated at 13.5 tog, from Slumberdown's Warm Winter Nights range.

Slumberdown Warm Winter Nights is a double duvet at 13.5 tog, the higher rating of the two duvets in this comparison. It suits anyone who wants a warmer duvet for winter. As with the other duvet, it is the top layer only, so it needs a fitted sheet on the mattress.

Utopia Bedding Fitted Sheet Double, White - Deep Pocket 14 inch (35 cm) - Easy Care - Soft Brushed…

Best white fitted sheet

Utopia Bedding Fitted Sheet Double, White - Deep Pocket 14 inch (35 cm) - Easy Care - Soft Brushed…

A white double fitted sheet with a 14in/35cm deep pocket.

Utopia Bedding is a fitted sheet, so it covers the mattress rather than adding warmth. It comes in white for a double bed, with a 14in/35cm deep pocket, and is a soft brushed, easy care sheet. The pocket is the shallower of the two sheets here, so it suits mattresses that are not especially thick.

What We Like

Bedsure Double Fitted Sheet Deep - 40cm Pocket, Grey, 135x190cm

Best for deeper mattresses

Bedsure Double Fitted Sheet Deep - 40cm Pocket, Grey, 135x190cm

A grey double fitted sheet, 135x190cm, with a 40cm deep pocket.

Bedsure is a grey fitted sheet for a double bed, measuring 135x190cm. Its 40cm deep pocket is the deeper of the two sheets here, which makes it the one to look at if your mattress is on the thicker side. Like the other sheet, it covers the mattress only and does not add any warmth.

GG GONZALO GRACIA Double Duvet 10.5 Tog

Best mid-weight duvet

GG GONZALO GRACIA Double Duvet 10.5 Tog

A double duvet rated at 10.5 tog.

GG GONZALO GRACIA is a double duvet at 10.5 tog. That is lower than the 13.5 tog Slumberdown, so it suits anyone who wants a lighter duvet than the warmest option here. It is the duvet layer only, so you would still need a fitted sheet underneath.

Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket, Double Bed, 135x120cm

Best electric blanket option

Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket, Double Bed, 135x120cm

A Silentnight Comfort Control electric blanket for a double bed, 135x120cm.

This is an electric blanket, so it is a separate item from the sheets and duvets and not a substitute for either. It is made for a double bed and measures 135x120cm. That is shorter than the 190cm length of the Bedsure sheet, so check the dimensions against how you plan to use it.
